One of the highlights of the Cous Cous Fest will be this year the Mahmood concert in San Vito lo Capo, Friday 27 September, the last Sanremo Festival winner who is traveling around Italy to present his first album “Gioventù Bruciata”, entered the top and for some weeks at the top of the charts.
On the way he made Mahmood, son of a Sardinian mother and Egyptian father, born and raised in Milan, he studied singing from an early age, but even though we learned about him from the last Italian Song Festival, his career began in 2012 with the first television experiences with the "X Factor" program.
Mahmood collaborated in 2017 with rapper Fabri Fibra writing a very successful song with him, but the collaborations continue with other rappers, until in September 2018 he released his first album "Gioventù Bruciata", which he is presenting, as we said, on tour all over Italy with great success, so much so that he won the double platinum record thanks to “Soldi, contained in this album, which is in first place among the tracks most passed by radio.
Mahmood in San Vito lo Capo will therefore be an exceptional event, to win the sympathy of the Sicilian public, despite his victory at the Sanremo Festival has caused numerous controversies because of the televoting, which gave the singer Ultimo as a winner by a large majority. The so-called quality jury made the difference for Mahmood.
Mahmood´s music seems to be Arabic, but the young singer said he could not speak Arabic, but he speaks fluent Sardinian, which he learned thanks to his mother and numerous visits to Sardinia, where he finds the right inspiration to compose his tracks.
The young Milanese singer, moreover, is a valid example of perfect integration and embodies the spirit of the Cous Cous Fest of San Vito lo Capo which since 1997 promotes the exchange and comparison between different peoples and cultures through food and wine.
We therefore all see ourselves with Mahmood in San Vito lo Capo on September 27th for an evening dedicated to good food and good music.
