It is really the case to say that the cinema lands in the Egadi Islands with a film festival that lights the spotlight from 17 to 20 July in the farthest Egadi, Marettimo.
It is an event that is in its first edition and already from the statements made at the press conference for the presentation of the event, it is expected to be something destined to last over time, because there is the need to create a film festival that both truly national that wants to celebrate Italian production, allowing authors to compare and offer new opportunities to our actors to be more appreciated.
The event is organized by the cultural association SoleMar-eventi with the patronage of the Sicily Region, the Marine Protected Area and the municipality of Favignana.
During the event, the feature films and the Top Works released in theaters over the last 12 months will be presented, accompanied by strictly Italian short films and documentaries, and the most appreciated work will receive the prestigious "Stella Maris" award.
The artistic direction of the event is entrusted to the director Paolo Genovese and the president of the jury is Laura Delli Colli and as Honorary President there will be the journalist Fabrizio Del Noce, known to the general public for being the special TG1 correspondent and director of RAI 1 his golden age when television played big plays and there was not all this competition even on the web. The jury also includes Adriana Chiesa Di Palma, Maria Sole Tognazzi, Tomas Arana, Gloria Satta and Nancy Brilli.
On the final evening of 20 July the 10 "Stella Maris 2019" will be awarded for Best Film, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best First Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Prize year and Public Award.
A special prize will be awarded to the singer Simona Molinari, a finalist in the second edition of the Mogol Prize and during the event there will be a moment when the archaeologist Sebastiano Tusa will be remembered, who died tragically in a plane crash last spring.
The film festival also has a social dimension with in-depth analyzes of the state of health of Italian cinema and of our marine environment, unfortunately, plagued by plastic.
