The eleventh edition of SiciliAmbiente Film Festival will start on July 14th in San Vito Lo Capo, an international exhibition dedicated to documentaries and short films with themes related to the environment, sustainability and human rights.
This event, which is sponsored by the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, is organized by Demetra Produzioni and the cultural association Cantiere 7, and was born in 2009 to turn the spotlight on these issues that today more than ever are questioned, for which it is necessary to raise as many people as possible about the priority that governments around the world must keep in mind, because then future generations will suffer the consequences.
Over the years, this event has grown more and more, not only in terms of numbers, but also in terms of esteem, until in 2017 it won the coveted Culture In Verde Prize awarded to the best "green" initiative in Italy.
This recognition is the last in a long series, but despite these awards at an international level, in the last two years SiciliaAmbiente Festival has lost support for the General Direction of the Mibact for reasons unknown to the organization.
The organizationīs efforts, however, do not stop and continue to continue to create a network capable of increasing the contribution of the audiovisual sector as an artistic expression, but also as a means of cultural growth.
Every evening until 19 July in the two open-air rooms, which are the garden of Palazzo La Porta (seat of the municipality) and the beach of the Tourist Port, a series of films and documentaries will be screened, divided into the Short Films category (doc and fiction) , Animations and documentaries.
This year Moni Ovadia will be the guest artist of the event who will present his theatrical show "Waterpeace" on Thursday 18 July at 7.30pm.
