The program of the fourth edition of the Garibaldine Events was presented in recent days, which will be held in Marsala from 10 to 12 May with a series of exhibitions, conferences, animations, musical, gastronomic and sporting exhibitions to worthily celebrate the landing of the Thousand, that there was May 11th 1860 right in Marsala.
Historians rightly agree in affirming that the Unity of Italy starts from Marsala thanks to an expedition, which had as its objective the unification of whole Italy from North and South under a single Sovereign.
Also this year there will be the "Garibaldi Challenge Marsala" sailing regatta, which has reached its fourth edition thanks to the participation of the sailing clubs of Marsala and the Italian Sailing Federation, which also in 2019 lends its patronage and recognizes it as an official federal event .
The highlight of the Garibaldi demonstrations will be Saturday 11 May with the "inaugural Sail" on the regatta field in front of the Monument to the Thousand. First, however, at 10.00 the tribute to the civilian victims of 11 May 1943, in which Marsala experienced the fury of the war bombings.
The program also includes the opening of a food and wine village at Villa Cavallotti on Friday 10 May at 6.00 pm with cultural and musical events, but also on the evening of Friday a dinner with a fixed menu for 8 euros in some restaurants in the city with Risorgimento gastronomic specialties.
There will also be celebrations for schools and third sector bodies that will open a series of exhibitions like the one on the Great War and on vintage cars and motorcycles in memory of Marsala pilots from May 10th.
Finally there will be historical parades in period costumes that will parade through the streets of the historic city center.
