By now there is a close union between San Vito Lo Capo and the kites thanks to the Kite Festival which this year has reached its eleventh edition.
This highly anticipated event will be held from 16 to 19 May, recalling as always many enthusiasts not only children, but also many adults, who like to return children.
The Kite Festival of San Vito lo Capo is a totally eco-sustainable event and manages to unite everyone, because the kite represents the most absolute freedom and when there is freedom, there is also peace; then the Kite Festival will fill the skies of the seaside village with colorful kites for four days and convey a very important message.
An event that was born quietly in 2009, has succeeded over the course of these ten years to become the appointment that in a certain sense inaugurates the summer season of San Vito Lo Capo and has managed over time to renew itself; in fact, this year there will be the novelty of the Wind Festival, which has been taking place in other parts of Italy for some time and brings together all the wind-related activities, such as kites, paragliders, sailing, as well as those related to the flight, such as aircraft, paramotors and parachuting.
In the case of San Vito Lo Capo there will be free style paragliding, kitesurfing and bound balloon flights this year.
The event, whose organization is entrusted this year Medifiere, a leading company in the organization of fairs and events, has the patronage of the municipality, which will provide its enchanting beach, its sea and of course its sky as an ideal stage, where kites of various types and colors will fly, built with leaves, with rice paper and with designs that evoke flora and fauna.
Events like these represent an important moment for tourism in San Vito Lo Capo, because kites will come from various parts of the world and as always there will be a rich program, ranging from morning performances to night shows, which are particularly suggestive thanks to the fact that kites float in the evening sky, giving life to a fireworks display of lights and colors on the notes of musical pieces specially chosen for the occasion.
