There are very few days left to the procession of the Mysteries and the various events and collateral events of the procession of the Mysteries multiply in the city. Among the various initiatives that are being implemented, we like to point out a theatrical show with the patronage of the Union of Maestranze called "The Goblet of Blood" scheduled for Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April at 9.00 pm in the church of Sant ´Agostino.
This is a theatrical performance inspired by the Passion of the Christ and the five Sacred Sorrowful Mysteries of the Good Friday Procession and represents a unique and never realized event before, which aims to enhance the culture and religious traditions of the territory linked to the last moments of life of Jesus, which are the following:
AGONIA IN THE GARDEN OF GETSEMANI: Jesus a few moments before he was arrested, he went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, but it is a prayer pervaded by sadness and anguish, because he knows what will soon await him and lead him to the death;
THE FLAGELLATION OF JESUS: after being arrested, Jesus is scourged by Pilate;
THE Crowning of Thorns: after the scourging followed the deposition of a twisted crown of thorns and while they mocked him as the king of the Jews, they even slapped him;
THE ASCESA AL CALVARIO: after receiving the death sentence by crucifixion, Jesus was taken to the place of Golgotha, which means place of the skull;
THE CRUCIFIXION AND DEATH: having arrived on Golgotha, Jesus was crucified next to the two thieves and around noon on Good Friday darkness fell over the whole earth and after having uttered a loud cry expired.
The theatrical representation is animated by the actors of the 37th Parallel cultural movement of Trapani, which in the past have evoked other painful mysteries of our recent life, such as the life of Falcone and Borsellino until their death a few months later each ´other.
