The itinerary of the Procession of the Mysteries on Friday 19 April has been published in recent days, starting at 2 pm, when the doors of the Anime Sante del Purgatorio church will be opened and the first group will be released.
For some years now it is customary to have the Good Friday Procession come out after the conclusion of the sacred Rite of the Descent of Jesus from the Cross; in fact the drums of the procession of the Mysteries will begin to roll as soon as a carabiniere knocks on the door of the church to warn the workers that the ritual in the nearby church of Santa Maria del Gesω has ended, thus starting one of the most fascinating and ancient of Sicily.
The novelty of this 2019 is the abolition of the alternation between the historical center and the Via Fardella, introduced in 2011 and that this year the Union Maestranze has decided to abandon to allow a greater number of people to be able to attend the procession in complete tranquility; Certainly the historical center, with its narrow streets, the ancient corners, the baroque as a frame and the bright basolato is the ideal proscenium for this ancient and persuasive rite. Nonetheless, the central Via Fardella has become over the centuries the central road axis of the city, shifting the center of gravity of Trapani to this smooth, smooth and much more practical way to welcome citizens and visitors.
The historical center will therefore not be abandoned but completed with the passage in via Fardella.
