It was presented in recent days at Palazzo d´Ali with the presence of the Bishop and the Mayor of Trapani Giacomo Tranchida, the Holy Week program that leads us to the procession of the Mysteries of Good Friday.
What we want to emphasize right now is the program of the Scinnutes that distinguish every Friday in Lent.
The scinnutes are preparatory rites, which lead to the procession of the Mysteries in which all the citizens of Trapani meet in prayer as a sign of penitence.
The Scinnuts have a very suggestive story behind and the origin of the name "scinnuta" in Italian "descent", because when the Sacred Groups of the Mysteries were kept in the ancient church of San Michele, today destroyed by the 1943 war bombings, they were placed on niches and on the friday of Lent, they were literally descended from these positions and positioned at the center of the altar for the adoration of the faithful.
It is a tradition that dates back to the seventeenth century and has been maintained until today even if the religious rite over the centuries has been revised and corrected, updating it to modern times, where today the group is simply placed at the center of the altar for the adoration of the faithful, during which there is the musical performance of the band outside the church, while at 19.00 the Eucharistic celebration is scheduled, presided over by the Bishop of Trapani.
