The kites are flying high at San Vito Lo Capo in the tenth edition of the Festival of kites, held from 23 to 27 May, recalling as always many fans with the nose up.
For five days the sky of the fishing village will be filled with colorful kites that will entertain not only children but many adults, because the kites have represented their childhood fun.
An event that was born quietly in 2009, but over the years has become increasingly large, inaugurating the summer season of San Vito Lo Capo.
Characteristic of this event is the eco-sustainable character, because the kite is a clean leisure, because it flies using the driving force of the wind.
As always, every year the event is an opportunity to discuss important social issues, which are the common thread for all 5 days of the event; in fact, the theme of disability is never lacking and as always the kite festival takes place at the same time as the Zero Barriere-Disabili no limits marathon, in which disabled and able-bodied participate together with a foot race in the perspective of true social integration.
During the days of the event, organized by the cultural associations "Creative Senses" and "Trapani Events" under the patronage of the municipality, educational workshops will take place, where school children can learn kite construction techniques and will also be a opportunity, where the children themselves can perform by throwing their kites into the sky.
It is an important moment of meeting with the schools, because they are generations grown up with smart phones and technological games and do not have the slightest idea of what the fun of once done with poor things is.
On May 23rd, the arrival of the kitesmen is scheduled in San Vito Lo Capo and the activities will begin at 10 am and will continue throughout the afternoon until Sunday 27 May with the launch in the sky of all the kites (monofilament, giants and acrobats), but there will be moments with music in the square, concerts and many surprise guests.
If time permits, launches in the sky will also be foreseen at night with pyrotechnic games that illuminate the flight with an extraordinary choreography of lights and colors.
