One of the stages that you can not miss out on visiting the various Christmas events is definitely the Living Crib of Custonaci, which is set up by the local cultural association Living Museum of Custonaci, which celebrates this year´s 34 years of activity.
The place where Nativity is displayed is as always the Grotto of Mangiapane in the village of Scurati (Custonaci), which from 25 December to 7 January 2018 will attract many visitors, especially tourists, who can admire one of the most important events that history of man has ever known: the birth of Jesus Christ.
In the scenic scenario that was previously chosen as a cinematic set for many television fiction, it will be the ideal stage for over 160 interpreters of artisans, artists, peasant workers from across Sicily and appearing to interpret the classic roles we are used to to see in the crib of our house, with the only difference, that instead of the paper figurines, there are bony actors, which will frame the fantastic village around the cave of Bethlehem.
The cave of Mangiapane up to sixty years ago was used for the processing of ricotta cheese and other dairy products, but was soon abandoned, remaining unused for many years, until the Association Custonaci Living Museum decided to retrieve it and exploit it from a tourist point with the idea of this event, which has achieved some notoriety.
Also this year the ticket office will be in Custonaci´s old town, but it will be possible to buy the ticket online, visiting www.presepeviventedicustonaci.it, which includes not only the shuttle service leading to the cave, but offers the possibility to taste the classic typical products.
