Again this year will be the historic re-enactment of the arrival and death in Trapani of Manfredi d´Aragona with Father Federico III, king of Sicily, and Eleonora d´Angiò.
From the 9th to the 12th of November 2017 with the sixth edition of this historic event, the 700th anniversary of this arrival in the city will be particularly remembered by the royal family, who unfortunately lived on the 9th of November 1317 the premature disappearance of the little Aragonese prince Manfredi, who found burial in the church of S. Domenico.
Manfedus was born in Catania in 1306 and despite his young age he was already invested in the title of Duke of Athens even if he never set foot in this territory, because death caught him because of a fall, while he was in Trapani . He was only 11 years old and was a terrible event for his parents, which he irretrievably shook them all his life.
The body of the young prince, as already mentioned, is inhumed in the Church of San Domenico, where his remains are located in a wooden ornate decorated near the altar.
The historical recollection is handled in the details of the Cultural Association "Trapani: tradumari & venti" in collaboration with the Rettoria San Domenico, with the free patronage of the Municipality of Trapani and with the contribution of the Sicilian Region - Regional Tourism Department - Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment .

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9 5.30 pm (Real Church of S. Domenico) Commemoration ceremony with a crown depicting the tomb of Manfredi of Trinacria, Duke of Athens. They will attend: M. Claudio Maltese, President Association and Moderator; Archbishop Gaspare Gruppuso, parish priest of the Cathedral; Dr. Vito Santoro will refer to "Manfredi, son of Federico III D´Aragona, King of Trinacria" with the extraordinary participation of the artists Gioele Corso and Francesco.
FRIDAY ´10 NOVEMBER Arrival of the Royal Family - Medieval Village Opening 18.30 pm (Regional Museum "A. Pepoli" - Madonna di Trapani Sanctuary) Arrival in the city of Federico III D´Aragona, King of Trinacria, his wife Eleonora D´Angiò and infant Manfredi of Trinacria, Duke of Athens. There will be a floral tribute to the Virgin Mary and patron Sant´Alberto. Entrance to the city with the Riders on horseback, escorted by the Knights and preceded by the band of "Real Trinacria" Musicians and Bandwagon Trapani-Erice. 19.45pm (Palazzo Cavarretta) Delivery of keys to King Frederick III, by the Lord of the city, with the Medieval Group "Monte San Giuliano - Erice". Welcome to the "Drums of Buccheri" (SR) group. Court walk to the S. Domenico Cloister. at 20.15 pm (Cloister of S. Domenico - until 23.30) Opening of the Medieval Village with Craftsmen, Merchants and various typical tastings. Military Camp with the Archery Range, the Medieval Fencing Arena, the Opificio and the Bottega del Speziale (by the "La Fianna" Palermo). Medieval dinner open to all. 21.30 am great SHOOTING FLAGS AND MUSIC "The flags flying high in the sky, the rings of Chiarine and the rolling of tambourines echoing in the ancient Dominican cloister" with the first Trapanese band of the musicians and bandwagon «Real Trinacria» and the Syracusan guest friends "Drums of Buccheri" in honor of the infant Manfredi of Trinacria and his Royal Family.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 11 - Village and Visits - Holy Mass - Fireworks from 10.00 to 13.00 - from 16.30 to 24.00 (Cloister and Church of S. Domenico) Medieval Village with Artisans, Merchants and various typical tastings. Military Camp with the Archery Range, the Medieval Fencing Arena, the Opificio and the Bottega del Speziale (by the "La Fianna" Palermo). Visit of the Old Oval Tower Campanaria. (small groups) Guided Visit of the Real Church of S. Domenico and the "Chapel of the Crusaders" (the Church´s guided visit in the afternoon will begin after Holy Mass, around 7 pm). - 5.30 pm (Real Church of S. Domenico) Pre-festive Mass, in the suffrage of the infant Manfredi 700 years after his death. - 18.00 pm (from the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in S.
