One of the most effective remedies to defeat the destructive violence of a war is not to trigger another war.
This is because history teaches us that there are no just wars and conflicts must be avoided by the only acceptable weaponry: those of culture.
A man who knows and knows it is in fact a man of peace who substitutes forethought to violence.
And it is on this trail that the exhibition currently being visited at Museo C. A. Pepoli of Trapani is based on the title "Art defeats the war".
The exhibition is about the history of the Museum during the dark years where Trapani lived during World War II and is sponsored by the Regional Office of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity and promoted by ICOM.
The exhibition serves to start a serious reflection on the educational function of art and culture with the display of various archive documents and photographic testimonies on the war period.
The exhibition will be open until June 18, 2017 and will be accompanied by several moments of reflection and debate thanks to the contribution of historians, architects and archivists as well as direct witnesses to dramatic events.
The exhibition will remain open to the public at the following times: Weekdays: 9.00-17.30 Festive: 9.00-12.30
