The sixth edition of the "ZERO BARRIERE" marathon will be held in San Vito Lo Capo on the last weekend of May, 26th and 28th May, a non competitive competition open to all those who say no to architectural barriers, but also To cultural ones, believing that accessibility and integration should not yet be taboo in 2017.
As every year the event is realized with the patronage of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo in collaboration with the section Disabili no Limits Team of the association A.S.D. Project Diver, operating for several years in San Vito Lo Capo.
The race takes off from the free beach "zero barriers" and provides a 10km route. On a national circuit of km 2.5 to repeat four times without any architectural barrier.
San Vito Lo Capo is not new to such initiatives. Already in 2005, with the patronage of the Regional Province of Trapani and INAIL, the municipality made available a stretch of beach equipped with walkways and chairs for all tourists those with motor disabilities. A princely sacrosanct, the one of the right to vacation, which has long been consolidated in various Italian and world realities.
So it was not enough to make accessible a stretch of beach that was really equipped so that the disabled and their accompanyers would have a relaxing time.
For several years we have been talking about social tourism in San Vito lo Capo and in the province of Trapani, and these events are aimed at increasing the publicīs sensitivity towards a real and concrete problem such as the right to vacation.
Well, initiatives such as the zero barrier marathon are set up to integrate and overcome obstacles, including cultural ones.
