Even in Aegadian was prepared a rich program of events and demonstrations in the holy occasion of Easter, where one begins to record a high number of tourists.
The timetable provides for Thursday 13 at 18 o´clock Mass in the Lord´s Supper at the Cathedral Church of Favignana with the traditional rite of the washing of feet, while Friday, April 14, the day of the Passion and of mourning for the whole of Christendom, will wind through the streets of the city center of Favignana the procession with the Dead Christ.
It ´also provided the performance with live people, which is after all, the primordial form of commemoration of the Passion of Christ, from Catholics, before the Council of Trent put banning processions with living characters, who came out of that that the gospels were telling in favor of representations with statues, which were faithful to tradition.
For Easter, Sunday, April 16 there will be the Aurora, meeting between the Risen Jesus and Mary, and on Sunday afternoon there will be a moment of entertainment for the little ones with the hunt Easter Bunny eggs, which is organized by ´cultural association GIM.
The beginning is preceded by a rally in the square matrix and the entire game will involve the entire city center.
The events, however, are not confined to Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo as well; in particular Levanzo also provides for the Good Friday procession of the Dead Christ and, while in Marettimo celebrations have started with Palm Sunday and the blessing of the olive trees, while there are two processions, one on Holy Thursday with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and on Friday the procession of the dead Christ.
