Among the rites of Holy Week in the province of Trapani, the Via Crucis of Buseto Palizzolo on Palm Sunday is the youngest event since the first performance of tableaux dates back to April 12, 1981, through the initiative and enterprise of a group of young busetani.
Thirty-six years have passed since then and this event, which in 2015 received the prestigious "Italive" in the category "Living History", officially opened the events of Holy Week in our territory.
Each year the event gets more and more success, which is not only from neighboring countries but also from outside due to the many tourists, who flock to our area for the Easter holidays.
The Via Crucis of Buseto is different from Marsala, because the characters do not act and are more static in the representation, requiring from the participants a big commitment and sacrifice. In fact, it is not easy to stand motionless for hours on end, expected later in the evening at the city center.
The procession organized by the Confraternity of the Crucifix that after the festive season calls into collecting many volunteers to organize great faith and passion the thirty-seventh edition.
The procession kicks off at 17 pm from the Church Santa Teresa of the Child Jesus, in Badia Village and ends at 23.30 in Piazza G. Falcone in the city center.
Over the years, the procession has changed appearance, passing from the initial 11 groups to the current 16 groups that make up the procession of the Living Mysteries.
