With scinnute officially began all those preparatory rites that lead the procession of the Holy Friday, in which the whole entire city of Trapani immersed in the charming atmosphere of passion, which characterizes Lent.
The Scinnuta, in Italian "descent" is nothing more than a ritual, which dates back to the seventeenth century in which the group or groups of the Mysteries were literally descended from the niche in which they were originally, when the Sacred Mysteries of the groups were placed in Ž ancient church of San Michele Arcangelo, situated in the center of Trapani.
After the devastating destruction of this ancient place of worship because of the bloody bombings of World War II, the mysteries they found other locations, until in 1961 they found the final collation in the current Church of Purgatory. Mindful of that tradition, today scinnuta, revised and corrected, is nothing more than put the groups toward the center of the altar of the Church, which are decorated with flowers and silver, while outside a musical band performs classical funeral march.
Followed by a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop.

Even during the centuries the scinnuta rite is not what it was back in 1600, it remains, however, in the heart of Trapani intact the charm of a popular devotion, which makes even more to increase the wait for the Holy Week.
