From August 6 to 14 Levanzo will be the island of tales with theater, dance, film, literature, visual arts, meetings and narratives; virtually the smallest of Egadi become a multicultural center, which will host artists, actors and writers who, together with the islanders, will discuss various topics, which can be topical and tell sea stories, travel, of migrants, of shipwrecks and borders.
It ´the first edition of this event promoted by the Libeccio and is directed by Giuseppe Marsala, which meant by a series of events to animate the streets and squares of the island.
This cultural project met with prestigious partners such as the University of Palermo - Department of Architecture, the Fondazione Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the Teatro Biondo in Palermo, the Associazione Figli d´Arte Cuticchios, Sicilia Queer Filmfest, Festival Sicilia Environment the Association Scene Dynamics and the Marine Protected Area Aegadian.
Levanzo Community Fest is not like any other event in which there are the protagonists, who are the actors and the people who come to make mere spectators, but they will have a more active role, because they will be asked to write their stories , participating in the race of short stories.
The stories, then, will be read by the islanders and the actors of the festival during the Night of tales.
"The Levanzo Community Fest is essentially a time of meeting, comparison and analysis.
The curtain opening is scheduled Saturday, August 6 at 20:30 on the quay of the port, with readings Constance Minafra and Agostino Rocca and music dell´Elettromagnetico Trio.
Always Saturday, August 6th is scheduled the screening of the film "Terraferma by Emanuele Crialese" with the introduction of MIMMO CUTICCHIO and Joshua Calaciura.
Sunday, August 7, at 20.00, Mimmo Cuticchios propose the song "Return to Ithaca", inspired by the Odyssey and stories of today´s migrants, preceded by a musical performance with dancing to the music of saxophonist Gianni Gebbia.
At 23 the director Nello La Marca, the anthropologist Franco La Cecla and the Iraqi narrator Yousif Latif Jaralla introduce a screening of the film "The Motherland".
The festival is divided into many sections, each other united by an ideal common thread, which allows participants to follow as if there was a single story from beginning to end.
Monday, August 8 at 21.00 screening of the documentary "In another sea" Franco Cecla. Tuesday, August 9 at 20.00 will be the turn of the theater with the show written by and starring Mediterranean Express Giuseppe Cederna, which tells the story of a trip on the water from the Mediterranean coast to the great rivers of the world. 23.00 screening of the film by Gabriele Salvatores "Marrakech Express".
Wednesday, August 10, again at 20.00, Paul Briguglia tells the story of a small Afghan refugee who to escape hunger and war alone through Iran, Turkey, Greece and Italy.
On August 11 @ 23.00 screening of the film "This must be the place" by Paolo Sorrentino, while Friday, August 12 at 20.00 on the bill is the play "Lampedusa Beach Lina Prose" in the new edition interpreted by ´ French Algerian actress Nadia Kibout, who after making his debut in Lampedusa, the second leg is located in Levanzo in Egadi his second stage.
Saturday, August 13 at 20.00 is the time of "The heart in a boat" dell´iracheno Yousif Latif Jaralla card, which will take audiences on an ideal boat for them to experience the story of a journey, one of war, hunger and persecution.
Closes the festival Sunday, August 14 at 11:00 am with a dance performance with the performance of Emilia Guarino in the Cave of Genoese.
Among the initiatives is the "Levanzo Friend Book", which provides for the enrichment of the local library of the Social Centre through book donations from tourists, the public and the artists of the festival.
