San Vito Lo Capo is not only the location of food and wine events, but also the backdrop to SiciliAmbiente, which is an international festival of documentaries, animations and short films related to environmental issues, human rights and sustainability.
The event will be July 19 to 24 is now in its eighth edition and is sponsored by the town of San Vito Lo Capo, the Demetra productions and by the cultural Shipyard 7, but there is also the collaboration of FIAB, Italian Federation felling barriers, which maintains a special section devoted to the issues of sustainable mobility. Also always part of the exhibition will be set up a laboratory-market in the Sanctuary square and along Via Savoia.
The festival aims to spread a culture of environmental sustainability, through documentaries, shorts and animations, which describe all the organizations that produce goods and services that would otherwise be discarded, fully accepting those goals, which many times Pope Francis spoke when he convicted the so-called "culture of waste", prevalent in today´s society, when on the contrary it should go towards projects and actions, which must be consistent with the following purposes:
- Use of poor materials; - Reuse; - Low or zero environmental impact; - Responsibility and environmental sustainability;
For the 2016 edition of San Vito Lo Capo has designed a new logo, which is inspired by the theme of desertification, and the melting of glaciers and the relentless climate change, which is the focus of attention on the part of all scientists the world for the inexorable rise in global temperature, resulting in the destruction of the entire planet.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness with the selected works, among many others joined in the competition, the entire audience of the vacationers and others, launching at the same time a cry of alarm about the fact that we have to run away immediately and there is no time to lose.
