This year, the summer of Favignana will be dedicated to art and culture with the fifth edition of FestivalFlorio, which is held from 17 to 26 June 2016 under the patronage of the Municipality of Favignana, Sicily and Area Region marine Protected Area.
This year´s theme is "ProgettOdissea" and is, as usual, he declined in the languages of the various arts to deepen it better in its various facets.
Every night of the event there will be the performances, which will have as its theme the exodus, the homeland, the search of the promised land and the journey, where the sea and especially Sicily represent the landing point. Practically the themes developed by Homer can be interpreted in a modern way, where thousands of migrants leave their country battered by war and poverty, and travel around the Mediterranean on makeshift boats in search of a promised land, which gives work, peace and serenity.
Each show includes reading from the musical concert, literary film from the meeting with the author, but there will be times when the Sicilian tradition will be on stage with its culture, its identity and its flavors with the tasting of typical Savignano kitchen.
The FestivalFlorio is organized by the artistic direction of Maestro Giuseppe Scorzelli, while literary readings will be taken care of from the Library New Europe of Rome, present during the Festival with a store.
