TripAdvisor, the world´s most popular tourist portal, has published the ranking of the most popular beaches in Italy and in Europe, and it is with with great satisfaction that we note that Italy has returned to the world podium especially as regards Sicily and Sardinia, the latter being the region winner with 5 of its beaches ranking in the Italian top ten. As for the province of Trapani the beach of Cala Rossa in Favignana is ranked seventh in the top ten in Europe and second in the Italian top ten. Here are the rankings:

Cala Rossa gets its name from the crude battle that the Romans and Phoenicians fought here. The water was dyed red from the blood and for this reason it was was named Cala Rossa (Red Cove). Today it is the turquoise sea that has become the main protagonist, and with its crystal clear waters, this beach has become the very symbol of Favignana.
