Today featuring an interview with the person who is behind some of the events in the province of Trapani most beloved. The most famous is certainly the Festival of Kites of San Vito lo Capo, but recently has also organized the music festival "Loudness Mediterranee" in Favignana. Captain Ignazio Billera of Trapani Eventi.
Q: We drew a balance of the event just ended? A: First of all, thanks to Luca Sciacchitano the opportunity offered to us professionals from several areas of tourism and not only, that is to the benefit of the whole territory. The budget is more than positive, the turnout was the highest, the square could not hold another public, even the weather was favorable, perfect organization, what else you could hope for better?
Q: Why did you choose to focus on a music event? Do not fear the comparison with more established musical reality? R: Loudness Mediterranee is now in its third edition, the first where we cooperated too. Sounds Mediterranee is the brainchild of Carmelo Errera, president of the "Little Paris", in collaboration with Simone Vesco´s "SemVesco-Productions" and we Eventi® of Trapani under the patronage of the Municipality of Favignana - Egadi Islands. Everyone has done his part for the success of the event. In a short time, and now, as always, with very few resources, we made two wonderful evenings aggregation musical offering moments of light-heartedness, joy and emotions. The music brings peoples together more than anything else, we have a Mediterranean basin with different sounds, we have some wonderful local artists to whom they are given the opportunity to perform live and be appreciated by a "real" public stage with as much warm. Each musical reality is in itself, and should be created every opportunity to emerge as music is a great vehicle for tourist attraction, but also pleasing to the residents themselves. She was not born with the idea of a comparison or competition, but with the intent to produce and disseminate different sound to a diverse audience of all ages. Dall´affluenza and heat received, we believe that the objective has been fully achieved.
Q: Why did you choose as a location Favignana? A: The Egadi Islands, this year, have been a particularly popular destination, the town council has been very sensitive to wanting to offer a series of events of various kinds to make the guests´ stay as pleasant and interesting as possible, every type of tourist. Having helped to attract a number of people who had come specially for "Loudness Mediterranee" is our greatest satisfaction.
Q: You are also the organizers of the festival of kites, the caponata and other fest event in the province of Trapani. What is the one that gives you the most satisfaction? A: By organizing events of various kinds, not only in the province of Trapani, but also in the whole of Sicily, but strangely never in the town of Trapani, the greatest satisfaction for us was to see as much audience and entertained. Certainly the International Kite Festival, now in its 6th edition, is the event that made us better known and often identifies us, but every event always gives us great satisfaction that we repay the intense work commitment in the organization.
Q: What do you think of the tourism situation in Trapani. It ´a destination that is worth visiting? The would you recommend to a possible tourist? R: Trapani, understood as a province, it is a mix of history, culture, landscapes, gastronomy, sea, sun, archeology, sports opportunities, from hiking to snorkeling, wind-surfing, sailing from, and therefore able to attract and satisfy all types of tourist and traveler. And ´certainly a destination that worth to visit and recommend it to every tourist all year round, but it is important that all this is let us know at all, but it is even more important to move from improvisation, from part of many "Trapani" to a new awareness made of professionalism and love for the "new" work which is undoubtedly the turning point of the future for the majority of young people so that they can stay at home and not "migrate"!
Q: Coming to matters of strictly local. What is your opinion on the recent controversy on the airport of Trapani who sees drop the passengers? R: I think it´s now become a matter for discussion between experts, Ryanair is not just a carrier, but a collector advertising for many destinations. And ´now desirable, and most urgent, create a "real" consortium of tourism operators that ALL, with or without institutions, to take steps to contact other carriers which offer the DESTINATION Trapani. But I think the real difficulty is to get out individualism "acute" in this area has always suffered and which has led to the emergence of many small committees with "wonderful ideas" but unable and powerless to join together to have ONE VOICE that can be SHOUTING and then hear and listen to those who can, and now MUST take the final decisions. Time is almost up!
Q: Do you think there are some recipes to implement the tourism in the province of Trapani? R: Increase the "professionalism" of all operators, from the "young girl" who waits tables for a bar to the taxi drivers, agents of the local police (who often do not speak any foreign language) to any citizen who continues to deposit trash bags around the streets, disbursement water H24, to the realization that only tourism will be our future. Only a "CONSORTIUM TRUE" to all tour operators will give the knowledge that the customer in a restaurant sets in motion a chain of traders and professionals ranging from laundry to the bakery, suppliers of food raw materials suppliers of accessories (plates, glasses , tables, chairs etc); in turn, the families of the aforementioned traders will benefit from an income to spend on other business and professional activities: for example, the wife of the waiter can go several times to the hairdresser, the wife of a hairdresser will be able to buy that magazine on newsstands he cared so much, the dell´edicolante wife will buy that cute shirt he had seen in the window and the wife of the clothing retailer will buy a postcard of Trapani and its stamp from the tobacconist which will promote Trapani distant friends; the wife of the tobacconist will be able to contact an architect to renovate the interiors of his summer house, and the wife of the architect will be able to ... ... ... The chain goes on and on, this is to say that they are not only tour operators in the strict sense benefit from tourism, but the entire community. Some tourists also, I remind you, also buy various types of items and souvenirs, and not only by the operator of the facility shall pay the City Tax municipal coffers !!! The biggest mistake is to treat tourists as a cash cow, because the password has to be the "word of mouth" positive that every visitor of our territory must distribute to his friends and acquaintances back home.
We do not have large companies that employ many workers, but we have a very large to grow: TOURISM, that give richness to the whole territory. It is up to us all to play our part. The bureaucracy must be reduced considerably; are decades that we hear about it, but at the same time every day, come and sneaky new laws, ordinances and circulars, which go in the opposite direction.
