With good weather that Spring offers , what better place to spend the holidays if not in the charming Egadi Islands ?
This year, the town council has prepared a rich program of events , both sacred and entertainment , with music and gatherings for all ages and all tastes.
It begins immediately , in St. Anne Square in Favignana, on Sunday - Palm Sunday - with the Reenactment at 10 am from the entry to Jerusalem with - where there will be the blessing of the palms - and then go to church , to the Matrix , with the Solemn Mass . The commemoration is organized by the Mary Immaculate Conception Parish Committee and edited by the Passion of Christ.
Wednesday, April 16 , starting at 21 , will take place on the streets of the center of the Passion of Christ , with a hundred people living protagonists of the various stations who will talk about the last hours of the life of Jesus according to Matthew the Evangelist : the " Conspiracy of high priests "to the Crucifixion. The output from Liberty street , to the square of the former Florio Plant , where there will be just the last act , namely that of the Crucifixion.
Thursday, April 17 at 18, there will be a Mass at the Mother Church Lord´s Supper with the rite of the washing of feet. Dall´indomani , Friday, April 18 , will reopen its doors , for the start of the summer season , the former Florio Plant, which will be based in the weeks and months to come, important cultural initiatives. In the evening, at 21, will be staged for the Procession of the Dead Christ. On April 20 , at 10, the church will be held on Aurora. Meeting between the Risen Jesus and Mary.
Concluded the Easter period , 25 April, the town council has organized , at 18:30 , a concert in the streets of the country with the "Street Band" , while April 26 , starting at 16 , in progress Vittorio Emanuele , the musicians Rubina and Gino De Vita cheer the audience with the musical " Madame Butterfly" organized by Rubina and open to anyone to attend and perform with the tools provided in the event. In the evening, artists and Rubina De Vita will perform in concert.
All businesses will be open to the public and the town will be closed to traffic.
But it does not end here . The City Council , which sponsors the event , has scheduled further action spectacle and entertainment for the entire weekend of May 1st , with musical performances thickness that will involve both local residents and the large numbers of tourists expected precisely in the upcoming holiday season and in the coming days .
